Southampton’s rich maritime heritage is further highlighted by the Royal Southampton Yacht Club, located on the picturesque Beaulieu River in Hampshire. Granted its Royal Charter in 1875, it is one of the oldest yacht clubs in the UK. The Club’s prestigious history dates back even earlier—during the 1840 season, it proudly announced royal consent to be known as The Royal Southampton Yacht Club.
By 1898, the Club had grown to more than 200 members and played a central role in organising the annual Southampton Regatta. Its legacy continues today, offering a blend of tradition, sailing excellence, and community spirit.
Southampton International Boat Show
The Southampton International Boat Show is one of the largest and most prestigious boating events in Europe, attracting visitors from across the world every September. The 56th edition took place from 19 to 28 September 2025 at Mayflower Park.
First launched in 1969 with just a single pontoon displaying boats loaned by the army, the Boat Show has grown into a major ten-day festival of all things nautical.
