Southampton For Your Eyes Only’s licence to be discussed

A SOUTHAMPTON strip club has applied to renew its licence and change some conditions.

For Your Eyes Only on High Street, has submitted a request to Southampton City Council, to renew its current licence.

The company is also asking for some conditions to be changed.

The news comes as earlier this year the strip club was temporarily closed while city licensing chiefs carried out a review.

As reported, the decision followed a police investigation into reports that a customer of the strip club allegedly paid out more than £30,000 during an eight hour-long stay at the venue.

But in February this year The Licensing and Gambling Sub Committee at the city council decided that For Your Eyes Only could reopen with immediate effect.

At the time, the council said it was noted the licence holder did not condone those actions and had taken “significant steps to address the shortcomings”.

The sub-committee considered the list of conditions agreed between the police, licensing office and the licence holder to be “sufficient” to address the concerns.

On August 17, the Licensing (General) Sub-Committee will consider whether to renew the strip club’s licence and change some conditions.

These could include requirements that “a member of the management team shall engage with any customer who has been in a private area for more than one hour. The purpose of the engagement is to ensure that his welfare is being considered”; “any transaction for £500 or over shall be made at the reception area by the patron and facilitated by a manager”; “CCTV audit checks shall be made by the senior management team” and ” a record shall be made of all VIP sit downs conducted by each dancer in the form of a spread sheet”.

The application also states that “any dancer earning £1,000 or more on a sit down shall have those interactions investigated by the management team”.

The  licensing sub-committee will discuss the application during a virtual meeting on August 17 at 4pm.
