Hanger Farm and Concorde club cancels Andrew Lawrence show

A TOTTON venue has cancelled a comedian’s show after he Tweeted racist abuse towards members of the England football team following penalties last night.

Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Aikman Lane was due to host stand-up Andrew Lawrence on January 15 next year.

However, the venue has released a statement today following racist comments made on Twitter by the comedian.

Hanger Farm has made the decision to cancelled Lawrence’s scheduled show, stating they have a “zero tolerance for racism”.

Last night, the 41-year-old posted a number of Tweets hurling blatant racists abuse towards England team members Marcus Rashford, 23, Jadon Sancho, 21, and Bukayo Saka, 19, following yesterday’s penalties.

His Twitter account has since disappeared, but not before venues started cancelling his shows.

In a statement on Facebook, Hanger Farm said: “Following the racist comments made by comedian Andrew Lawrence on Twitter we have made the decision to take his scheduled show at Hanger Farm Arts Centre off sale and the show will not take place.

“As a social enterprise of learning disability charity Minstead Trust, we work hard to promote inclusivity, provide safe spaces for everyone within our community and have zero tolerance for racism.”

Lawrence is also due to perform at The Concord Club in Eastleigh on January 7. This show has also been cancelled.
